Libby Creek Gold Panning Area

Libby Creek Gold Panning Area is located in Kootenai National Forest. The parking area at the panning area is a small clearing adjacent to Libby Creek. Vaulted toilet and camping facilities are available. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on leashes. Howard Lake Campground is located 1 mile south on Road 231.

No motorized or mechanized equipment, no sluices or rockers. Picks, shovels, buckets and pans are welcome

  • From Libby, travel 7 miles south on US Highway 2. Turn right onto Bear Creek Road 278 and continue for 15 miles to Libby Creek Road 231.
